Plum Creek Greenway Trail Connects Through Mesa Grande

The Plum Creek Greenway Trail has been making steady prog

ress over the past few years, and Mesa Grande has played an important role in that growth.

Back in 2023, the trail’s second phase pushed the pathway right up to Laurel Road — the entrance to Mesa Grande. That work added a three-quarter-mile, 10-foot-wide asphalt trail from Mooney Park to Laurel, complete with a new bridge over Plum Creek and a trailhead parking lot on the north side of the road. For our neighborhood, this was the first major step in bringing the trail system right to our doorstep.

Then, in June 2024, the project officially came through our community with the completion of Phase 3. This new stretch runs from Laurel Road through Mesa Grande and continues all the way to Brunswick Lake Park. The expansion not only connects us to both Mooney Park and Brunswick Lake, but also links nearby neighborhoods, churches, businesses, and the city’s core. Many have called this phase one of the most picturesque routes of the entire trail.

While Phase 3 is the last section currently planned, city officials have expressed hopes that the trail will one day extend even farther — all the way to North Park. For Mesa Grande residents, the result is more than just a walking path. It’s a connection point to nature, recreation, and the larger Brunswick community.
